Yarn Bombed Tank

Hello

Today I came across this picture of a yarn bombed tank. It is on display at The Military Museum in Dresden to remember the anniversary of the destruction of Dresden in World War 11yarnbombed tank

I understand that the yarn bombing is the creation of Kristina Kromer and Barbara Niklas who worked with 60 people, knitting and crocheting, every Tuesday and Wednesday for 6 months.

I actually love it. The contrast between the tank which represents everything that is violent and destructive and the knitting which is gently, contemplative and creative. It is as if the tank is smothered by the love and hope and creation that the knitters have made.

Happy Knitting

Wightcat Wools has moved to a brand new shop!

We have moved to a brand new shop!

Wightcat Wools Shop 3 a

Last Tuesday was the very first day in our new shop. After months and months of hard work (with quite a bit of help from my family) we opened the doors for the very first time. We are now in a little arcade with a few other shops and we have much more room for more stock so we will be expanding our ranges over the next few months.

A big thank you to everyone that came to see us last week! I met lots of new knitters and lots of our regulars have found us too!Wightcat Wools Shop 2 aEmily from Yoppul wrote a lovely article about my grand opening

Happy Mothers Day!

“Properly practiced, knitting soothes the troubled spirit, and it doesn’t hurt the untroubled spirit either.” ― Elizabeth Zimmermann

Elizabeth Zimmerman in 1949 with her daughter Meg (later Swansen)

Happy Mother’s Day to you all!

Today I am thankful for my Mum and my Gran. And also my big sister Kate; who from the day I was born (and before!) took great care of me!

My Gran taught me to knit, my Mum taught me to crochet and Kate helps me with so many projects there are too many to mention!

I hope you all have a lovely day
